  1. As a sign of respect, for a few hundred years, the word ਸ੍ਰੀ (Sri) has been used as a prefix before Guru Sahib Ji's names. For example - Sri Guru Nanak Dev Sahib Ji, Sri Guru Anggad Dev Sahib Ji, Sri Guru Amardas Sahib Ji etc
    In recent years, under the influence of anti Sikhi elements or out of ignorance, the use of the word ਸ੍ਰੀ (Sri) before Guru Sahib Ji's name has been wrongly stopped. The reason they give is that ਸ੍ਰੀ (Sri) refers to Maya or Wealth.
    The word ਸ੍ਰੀ (Sri) has various meanings and we should always show respect to Guru Sahib Ji and use it as a prefix before Guru Sahib Ji's name.

    ਨਾਨਕ ਜੁਗਿ ਜੁਗਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਹੋਈ ॥੬॥੧॥ O Nanak, in each and every age, the Naam is glory and greatness.

    Another example - at the start of Asa Ki Vaar, it is written that the Vaar is to be sung in the tune of ਟੁੰਡੇ ਅਸ ਰਾਜੈ ਕੀ ਧੁਨੀ (Tunday Asrajey Ki Dhuni).
    There is a story behind each tune indicated for each of the nine Vaars. The stories behind the tunes have been given in the kathas below.

  39. In 1705, Sri Guru Gobind Singh Sahib Ji sent a letter of victory to Emperor of India, Aurangzeb.
    This letter was named Zafarnama (Gurmukhi: ਜ਼ਫ਼ਰਨਾਮਹ or ਜ਼ਫ਼ਰਨਾਮਾ, Persian: ظفرنامہ‎ ) means the "Declaration of Victory". The letter is written in exquisite Persian verse.
    In this letter, Guru Sahib Ji reminds Aurangzeb how he and his henchmen had broken their oaths taken on the holy Koran.
    Despite this deception, this treacherous leader could not harm Guru Sahib Ji. Guru Sahib Ji states in this letter that in spite of his several sufferings, he had won a moral victory over the crafty Mughal who had broken all his vows and had resorted to underhand behaviour. Despite sending a huge army to capture or kill the Guru, the Mughal forces did not succeed in their mission.
